PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is the Government of India's flagship rooftop solar scheme for households. It offers a direct central financial assistance (CFA) that is credited to your bank account after your system is commissioned.
How much subsidy can you get?
- Up to 2 kW: ₹30,000 per kW
- 3rd kW: ₹18,000 additional
- 3 kW and above: capped at ₹78,000
Special-category states and UTs (North-Eastern states, hill states and island UTs) receive a higher assistance. Group housing societies and RWAs can also claim support for common facilities such as lifts and lighting.
Who is eligible?
- An Indian household with a valid electricity connection in their name
- A suitable roof with adequate shadow-free area
- No previous central subsidy availed for rooftop solar
Step-by-step process
1. Register on the national portal
Register with your state, DISCOM, consumer number and mobile number, then apply for rooftop solar.
2. DISCOM feasibility
Your DISCOM checks technical feasibility and issues approval.
3. Installation by a registered vendor
Choose a registered vendor like Zolar Energies to install the system with DCR (domestically manufactured) modules.
4. Net metering & inspection
After installation, the DISCOM installs a net meter and inspects the system.
5. Subsidy credit
Once the commissioning certificate is generated, submit bank details and the subsidy is credited directly to your account.
Zolar handles every one of these steps for you — from portal registration to subsidy follow-up — so you only need to sign a few documents.
