On-Grid Solar
Lowest cost per unit. Export surplus power and earn credits.
An on-grid (grid-tied) system works alongside your DISCOM connection. Solar power runs your loads first; any surplus is exported through a net meter and adjusted against your bill. It's the most affordable and most popular configuration in India and is eligible for PM Surya Ghar subsidy.
How it works
- 1Solar panels generate DC power during the day
- 2The grid-tie inverter converts it to AC and synchronises with the grid
- 3Your appliances consume solar power first
- 4Surplus units flow to the grid through a net meter and earn credits
- 5At night you draw from the grid as usual
Advantages
- Lowest investment per kW
- Fastest payback (3–5 years)
- Eligible for central subsidy
- Minimal maintenance — no batteries
Good to know
- Shuts down during grid outages (anti-islanding safety)
- Requires DISCOM net-metering approval
